Ebola death toll rises to 7,693: WHO
The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in west Africa has risen
to 7,693 out of 19,695 cases recorded, the World Health
Organization said Friday.
The previous toll released December 22 stood at 7,518
fatalities out of 19,340 infected in Sierra Leone, Liberia and
Guinea.
Worldwide, the disease has killed at least 7,708, including six
in Mali, one in the United States and eight in Nigeria, which
was declared Ebola-free in October.
Spain and Senegal, which have both been declared free of
Ebola, meanwhile counted one case each, but no deaths.
– Sierra Leone –
Sierra Leone, which has overtaken Liberia as the country with
the most infections, counted 9,203 cases and 2,655 deaths on
December 24, the WHO said.
Four days earlier the toll stood at 8,939 cases and 2,556
deaths.
– Liberia –
Liberia, long the hardest-hit country, has seen a clear
decrease in transmission over the past month.
As of December 20 the country counted 7,862 cases and 3,384
deaths, up from 7,830 cases and 3,376 deaths recorded in the
previous update, the WHO said.
– Guinea –
In Guinea, where the outbreak started a year ago, 2,630 Ebola
cases and 1,654 deaths were recorded as of December 24.
The previous tally showed the country with 2,571 Ebola cases
and 1,586 deaths.
– Healthcare workers –
Ebola, one of the deadliest viruses known to man, is spread
only through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an
infected person showing symptoms such as fever or vomiting.
People caring for the sick or handling the bodies of people
infected Ebola are especially exposed.
As of December 21 a total of 666 healthcare workers were
known to have contracted the virus, and 366 of them had
died, according to WHO.

Muslim youths protect Christians during Xmas service in Kaduna
More than 200 Muslim youth volunteers are part of those
protecting Christians during church services to celebrate this
year’s Christmas in Kaduna, says Pastor Yohanna Buru.
Buru, a cleric of Christ Evangelical Church, Sabon Tasha,
Kaduna South, disclosed this in an interview with pressmen in
Kaduna.
He confirmed that over 200 Muslims were at his church to
help protect the faithful from any attack during the church
service.
According to him, the feat is the first of its kind after the
series of crises that rocked the state in recent past.
“I really appreciate their love and care,’’ said the cleric.
Buru said the essence of that was to protect the Christian
worshippers as part of effort to strengthen peaceful co-
existence between Muslims and Christians in the state.
The pastor expressed happiness over the protection given to
them by the Muslim brothers.
He noted the initiative was an indication that peace has come
to stay in the state, saying the measure will strengthen a
lasting peace between the two religions.
He also prayed God to continue to bring about peace in the
country the country, praying that other citizens would emulate
the gesture.
He urged Nigerians to learn to live in peace with one another
irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
The cleric said that peace was a major panacea to the
positive development of any nation. (NAN)

Ekiti teachers curse Governor fayose over Xmas 'AWOOF'
It was an interesting sight yesterday as primary and
secondary school teachers from all over Ekiti State converged
on Agric Olope area of Ado-Ekiti to collect the chickens that
Governor Ayodele Fayose promised them for Christmas.
As early as 9am, teachers had started to throng the
distribution venue to collect their chickens. When Governor
Fayose arrived with a deluge of security aides in his traditional
short-sleeve T-shirt, he threw victory punch to the air with
the supporters he brought in buses responding with shouts of
Oshoko.
The whole stretch of Agric Olope of Ajilosun was jam-packed
with the vehicles of the teachers that came from all over the
state.
The other end of Agric Olope by Matthew Street was a no-go
area as teachers, who parked their cars far away from the
distribution venue, trekked long distances.
By noon, the picture of what would emerge at the end of the
day had started to take shape as teachers went home with
pigeon-size chickens cursing the governor in unprintable
words. Some left in annoyance shouting “Sai Buhari, Sai
Buhari”.
When the governor saw the anger of the teachers as they
shoved and shoved in an uncontrollable scramble to collect
their chickens, he offered to decentralize the distribution, but
the teachers had already lost their patience, as they left in
anger.
One teacher from Omuo-Ekiti lamented that he had spent
about N800 to travel to Ado-Ekiti to collect a chicken that
sells for less than N1000. One of the friends of a teacher who
parked his car about 400 metres away from the venue with a
green Nissan Primera lamented ever wasting his time “for this
nonsense”. The man was more angry as the car of his friend
broke down with bad brake cable where they parked. As at
6:30pm, mechanics were still battling to bring the car to life.
Surrounded by four other teachers, one of them said that he
knew the whole exercise would be a fluke immediately he
learnt that teachers in both primary and secondary schools
were lumped together for the exercise.
“I know it is going to be like this. More than half of the
teachers won’t get the fowls. Elomirin a kari so dele loni leyin
ugba kaan ba ruun kankan gba leyin kaan duro titi titi ninu
orirun (some people will go dejected back home empty-
handed after waiting long hours in the sun).
As teachers moved enmasse in anger from the place, the
governor pleaded that they should come back, promising that
he would add N2 million to be shared among the teachers.
This angered the teachers the more, as they started
shouting:”How much will one teacher get if N2m is shared
among more than 18,000 teachers in both primary and
secondary schools?”
As The Trumpeter tried to take the photographs of the
teachers as they were leaving in anger, some covered their
faces to avoid being photographed.
To everybody’s chagrin, Fayose on his way to the office
abruptly stopped at Matthew street junction along Ajilsun and
sat at a phone vendor booth making phone calls while traffic
built up heavily along the road.

I wont have an office for FIRST LADY says Buhari
General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd)
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
retired General Muhammadu Buhari says he will not have an
office for first lady if elected in next year’s election.
In an exclusive interview with Weekly Trust in Kaduna, Buhari
said his decision was premised on the fact there is no office
of first lady in the Nigerian constitution, just as there is no
official role for presidents’ wives.
Rather, he said ministries which are constitutional should be
allowed to play their roles.
“There is the Ministry of Women Affairs, and so on”, he said.
The APC flag bearer said women would however play very
important roles in his administration.
“I was raised by my mother, as I lost my father when I was
under six years, so I know what a woman can do if given the
chance,” he said, adding that he sees them as his
cornerstone.
General Buhari also spoke on the situation in Chibok, Borno
State, where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted by the
terrorist group, Boko Haram and remain in their captivity.
“Imagine a mother with a teenage daughter there and for
seven months and has no clue where she is”, he said, noting
that women’s effort in looking after children, apart from the
pain of childbirth, aggravates the pain of losing a child.
“Roughly one year in their tummy and from the time they are
born until they clock six, children tend to assume they know
everything, but it is women, their mothers, who are
responsible for them. I have the greatest respect for women,”
he said.

16yr Old Student Arrested For Insulting Turkish President
A 16-year-old high school student has been arrested in
central Turkey for “insulting” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
by accusing him and his ruling party of corruption, sparking
angry criticism on Thursday from the opposition.
The boy, identified by his initials M.E.A., was believed to be
a member of a leftist organisation, the Hurriyet newspaper
reported.
He delivered a speech on Wednesday in the central Anatolian
city of Konya, a bastion of Erdogan’s Islamic-rooted Justice
and Development Party (AKP), in memory of a young secular
teacher killed by Islamists in 1930, according to the
newspaper.
The boy, who was arrested by police at school, is now
facing up to four years in prison if convicted on the charge.
It was the latest controversial arrest in Turkey in recent
weeks. Recent police raids on media outlets affiliated with
Erdogan’s top foe, the US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen,
sparked an angry exchange with the European Union, which
said the arrests undermined media freedom.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu supported the court’s
decision on the juvenile’s arrest.
“Everyone must respect the office of president whoever he
is,” Davutoglu said, quoted in Turkish media.
In his testimony to prosecutors, the boy denied links with
any political party and said that the local governor’s office
granted permission for the commemoration ceremony
organised through social media.
“I’ve made the statement in question. I have no intent to
insult,” he reportedly said.
The boy’s lawyer, Baris Ispir, submitted a petition to the
court, together with around 100 colleagues who came from
Istanbul in a show of support.
“Even if he is convicted, he is 16 years old which requires a
one-third reduction in his penalty,” the lawyer said,
according to the private Dogan news agency.
Riza Turmen, lawmaker of the secular opposition Republican
People’s Party (CHP), denounced the arrest as a violation of
the UN charter on children’s rights.
“Regimes taking children out of classes by police force and
putting them in jail are fascist regimes,” Turmen, a former
judge at the European Court of Human Rights, wrote on
Twitter.
“This goes against the UN charter on children’s rights.”
Turkey’s government faced an unprecedented wave of
protests in 2013 against what was seen as authoritarian
policies from Erdogan, who was then prime minister.
The AKP government was shaken by a vast corruption
scandal last December that dragged down four ministers
facing accusations of bribery and influence-peddling.
Erdogan, who was elected president in August, angrily
accused his former ally-turned-foe Gulen of concocting the
graft scandal.
Thirty people were arrested in raids earlier this month
against those deemed to have links to Gulen.
Most have now been released but a court has remanded in
custody on terrorism charges the head of the pro-Gulen
Samanyolu TV and three former police chiefs. It also issued
an arrest warrant for Gulen himself.
In power since 2003, Erdogan has brought relative stability
to Turkey after years of rocky coalition governments and an
economic meltdown in 2001.
But what critics describe as his increasingly authoritarian
style and zero-tolerance of criticism have proved a major
test for democracy in the country which has long sought to
join the European Union.

Yobo Endorses Jonathan For Second Term
Former captain of the Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo, on Friday led a group known as PDP Ward 2 Ward Initiative to the Presidential Villa Abuja to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan for second term.
Addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting with the president, Yobo said Jonathan deserved a second term to continue the “good work” he had started.
The ex-international, who is the group’s brand ambassador, said the president had done so well for the youth and called on them to re-elect him in 2015.
He stated that his organisation had a short, medium and long-term plan to partner the president on his transformation agenda.
“I’m here to endorse His Excellency, the president of our great nation, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, for his re-election. He has done so well.
“I stand here as a youth to say that he deserves a second term to push forward the good work he has started.
“I do believe in the legacy of the transformation agenda, and that’s why this Ward 2 Ward Initiative is building on that legacy.
“The president has done so well. The youth now have their own power, they have their own beliefs and they should understand that they have their rights in their own hands. They should follow what Mr President has started.
“The youth should come forward and believe in Mr President. Everybody should come out to vote for him.
“It’s your choice, but as an individual and as a face of the youth, I recognise what he has done.
“The future is for the youth. We need to stand up and look into the future, not just now.
“If we don’t settle down and take responsibility as youths and be able to follow what Mr President has done, then what does our future hold?”
The national Coordinator PDP Ward 2 Ward Initiative, Mr Shekulomaso Karka, said the group was a grassroots political organisation and an NGO involved in youth development at the grassroots.
Karka explained that the group was involved in the propagation of government’s developmental policies and programmes in rural areas.

N21bn: Activists ask INEC to disqualify Jonathan, PDP
Some human rights activists have called on the Independent
National Electoral Commission to restore sanity in the
nation’s electoral system by disqualifying President Goodluck
Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party from participating
in the February 2014 general elections.
The activists argued on Thursday that since the President
and the PDP knowingly flouted the Electoral Act which
prescribes N1bn as the maximum amount a presidential
candidate could incur on electioneering, they deserved to be
sanctioned.
The rights activists – Debo Adeniran, Lanre Suraj, Femi
Aborisade, Malachy Ugwummadu and Wale Ogunade, also
slammed the police authorities for their indifference to the
open breach of the Act.
Section 91(9) of the Act reads, “An individual or other
entity shall not donate more than N1m to any candidate.”
Sub-section 10 of the same section adds that a presidential
candidate “who knowingly acts in contravention of this section
commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a maximum
fine of N1m or imprisonment for a term of 12 months or
both.”
Section 91(2) of the same Act states that, “The maximum
election expenses to be incurred by a candidate at a
presidential election shall be N1bn.”
Adeniran, who is the Chairman of Coalition Against Corrupt
Leaders, said in an interview with The PUNCH on Thursday,
that the donation by PDP governors government agencies and
public agencies to the Jonathan campaign war chest was
distasteful.
According to him, their action ran contrary to the call by the
Federal Government on Nigerians to brace for austerity
measures.
The anti-corruption campaigner also pointed out that the
donation by players in the power sector amounted to forcing
Nigerians who had been made to pay for electricity they were
not provided with, to donate to Jonathan’s re-election bid.
He said, “The donation of over N21bn is a demonstration of
immorality in government. This is a clear violation of the
Electoral Act that specifies just N1bn for expenditure in
campaigns. Then that many of those who donated are
government agencies accentuates the recklessness and
impunity that governs the minds of our rulers.
“In a country where the government is asking the people to
tighten their belts, its agencies are donating several
millions of naira.
“These also included the people in the power sector who have
not been able to supply electricity which the people have paid
for. This is to say that people are being forced to contribute
to the campaign of the incumbent regime and that is
another level of immorality.
“INEC needs to bar Jonathan and his party from participating
in the general elections next year because they knowingly
contravened the law governing elections in the country.”
He also challenged the Independent Corrupt Practices and
Other-Related Offences Commission to investigate the
breach.
“It is not direct robbery that the police can intervene without
being invited. It is the duty of the ICPC to set up the Anti-
Corruption and Transparency Unit that has the mandate to
call to question, all the authorities that are violating
transaction and procurement rules like it is being perpetrated
by Jonathan and his political party.
“We expect the ICPC to move to check these financial
shenanigans. The ICPC does not need a petition before
they could act.”
On his part, Aborisade argued that since the police
authorities were fully represented at the PDP dinner/fund-
raiser on Saturday, they did not require any report or
invitation from any quarter to commence investigation.
He said the police “should not give us the impression that
they are only there to protect the interest of the ruling party
at the centre.”
“They are to investigate and prosecute crimes committed
against the law of Nigeria. The 1999 Constitution and the
electoral law have been breached and the police are
empowered to so act,” Aborisade, who is also a lawyer added.
While he made reference to section 4 of the Police Act to
corroborate his stance, he advised INEC to go ahead and
disqualify Jonathan and the PDP .
He said, “They are part and parcel of the Nigerian society.
They are fully aware. The police were well represented at the
donation. They witnessed it and they do not require any other
form of report from anybody. It is public knowledge and they
ought to have acted appropriately.
“But not only the police, even INEC ought to disqualify PDP
from presenting a candidate and ought to disqualify the
candidate of the PDP because they have flouted, in a very
disgraceful and condemnable manner, the Electoral Act.
“I think the INEC should introduce sanity into the Electoral
process because with that kind of donation, they are merely
saying they can induce every voter so that they can win the
2015 election.
“Our elections should not be monetised; they should be based
on issues or ideas that can uplift the lot of our people as
contained in the constitution.”
Also, Ugwummadu lamented that the donation had
demonstrated that “Nigeria has now become a huge theatre of
absurdity and one in which clear criminal actions and
activities have now worn a garb of comedy.”
He said, “On the day of the donation which was streamed
live on the television, I personally called the leadership of
several law enforcement agencies in this country to tell them
that they don’t need a complainant to begin to arrest those
people who were donating.
“And the fact that the arrest didn’t happen, even as I knew it
would not happen, clearly describes the poverty of the
situation we find ourselves which is indeed hopeless.
“We are now at the last bus stop before anarchy – that bus
stop where 18-year-old girls are now enrolled as suicide
bombers in legions; where crimes and criminalities are
perpetrated with impunity and encouraged by the ruling
political party.”
The activist advised INEC to disqualify the PDP and Jonathan
from participating in the elections as “they have been involved
in a clear case of criminality.”

commits an offence and on conviction is liable to a maximum
fine of N1m or imprisonment for a term of 12 months or
Christmas tragedy as medical doctor dies in inferno
It was a sad Christmas morning for residents of Oke Ibukun
Street, off Araromi, in Akure, Ondo State capital, who woke up
to a raging fire that razed a clinic, Universal Medical Clinic
(Specialist Children Clinic) and killing one Dr. David
Oguntuase, said to be the owner of the clinic.
Our correspondent gathered that the fire began at 12.30 am
on Thursday, but no one was able to determine the actual
cause of the fire.
Sympathisers could not hold back their tears as they watched
the remains of the doctor in the midst of the building, burnt
beyond recognition.
It was learnt that the doctor worked as a Consultant
Pediatrician at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo while he
maintained the private clinic in Akure.
Some residents were said to have made frantic efforts to
rescue the building, but their efforts to get the firemen to the
scene failed, as none of the fire officers came to the scene in
spite of the calls made to them.
A resident, Ajayi Olorunlogbon, explained that but for the
efforts of neighbors around, the fire could have spread to
other houses.
Officers of the Fire Service in the state could not be reached,
but Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the
incident, and said the state police command had begun an
investigation into the cause of the fire.
He said, “The doctor was consumed in an inferno in his clinic
and we have commenced our investigation, while his corpse
had be taken to the morgue for autopsy.”
Ogodo added that the wife of the late doctor, Wuraola
Oguntuase, came to report the incident at the A-Division
Police Station in Akure.

Insurgency: FG hires NICON to insure 125,000 students
To control the consequences of Boko Haram insurgency and
other forms of insecurity in the country, the Federal
Government has hired NICON Insurance Plc to insure 125,000
secondary school students scattered in 104 unity schools
across the country.
Each student of the unity schools is expected to pay N5,000
premium per annum. This means that the company would be
raking in N625m per annum from the insurance scheme.
NICON Insurance, a company that once belonged to the
Federal Government was sold to business mogul, Jimoh
Ibrahim, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2006.
Investigation by our correspondent showed that there was no
bidding for the insurance contract which has been handed
over to NICON Insurance as the sole underwriter of the 104
unity schools scattered across the country.
In a circular informing parents and guardians of the new fee
to be paid, a principal of one of the unity schools in the
country said the new policy was because of the general
security challenges across the country.
The circular reads, “Due to the security challenges in the
country, the Federal Ministry of Education has employed the
services of NICON Insurance Company to insure Federal
Government College students.
“Each student is expected to pay N5,000 yearly and also
complete the form attached. This amount will be remitted into
NICON Insurance account to be supplied later.”
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Spokesman
of NICON Insurance Plc, Mr. Ade Adesokan, confirmed that the
company was in the process of rolling out the product. He
confirmed that the company was the sole underwriter
nationwide.
In the parlance of the insurance company, the scheme is titled
Students Welfare Insurance Scheme for Unity Schools.
Adesokan said, “The student welfare insurance scheme is a
product designed by NICON Insurance Limited to provide
much needed benefits under a combined personal accident
and life cover for the students and their sponsors.”
According to the company, in the case of accidental death of a
student, the sponsor named in the policy would be entitled to
N500,000.
In the event of the death of sponsor or guardian of a student,
the student would be entitled to payment of school fees up to
the year of graduation from the secondary school (maximum
of N500,000 for this benefit).

Enjoy your chicken with your love ones it's good for your health.
Chicken is a very popular food in this country as well as
throughout the world. Just about every country on this planet
has a famous chicken soup and recipe. It is so adaptable,
widely available, and reasonably affordable.
Many also prefer it to seafood and fish because of its
inoffensive taste that will not interfere with others, so it
marries well with bolder flavours.
But apart from its delicious taste, nutritionists say chicken is
especially good for the heart, as it contains the good fatty
acids which do not encourage weight gain — a predisposing
factor for coronary heart disease.
Consultant Nutritionist, Dr. Shola Adebiyi, says that the
Omega-3 fatty acids in chicken reduces risks of
cardiovascular diseases.
Adebiyi states, “Chicken is relatively low in saturated fats,
compared to many protein alternatives such as meat,
especially when the skin is removed and it is not fried.
“By eating chicken, you will lower your risk of developing heart
disease by reducing your LDL or “bad” cholesterol. Basically,
eating chicken makes it easier for you to maintain a healthy
weight due to its low fat content.”
If you want to reduce your risks for some forms of cancer,
experts say you should incorporate chicken into your diet.
Food experts note that chicken is a great source of selenium
– a trace element that has been shown to fight cancer.
They affirm that selenium has a positive effect on the
incidence of other degenerative diseases, including
inflammatory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, neurological
diseases and infections.
“A part of chicken contains 24 microgrammes of selenium,
which is 44 per cent of the selenium you need daily. Selenium
is an antioxidant that activates vitamins C and E and their
ability to fight cancer-promoting free radicals.”
Many are aware of the fact that chicken is one of the richest
sources of protein, but few actually know that chicken is
loaded with vitamin B3, B6 and niacin — nutrients that have
been known to boost immunity, protect against infections and
also help cell regeneration and rejuvenation.
Experts highlight that vitamin B6 found in chicken is an
essential element that helps the body produce insulin needed
for the metabolism of protein and carbohydrates.
“Without vitamin B6, your immune system, metabolism and
central nervous system would not function properly. The
active form of vitamin B6, called pyridoxal phosphate, has the
largest effect on human metabolism and each serving of
chicken contains 40 per cent of your daily recommended
vitamin B6 intake,” Adebiyi adds.
You have been told the many amazing benefits of eating
chicken. However, nutritionist and dietician, Dr. Segun Alonge,
maintains that for you to actually get the benefits
aforementioned, you must eat the right form of chicken, which
is the organic or grass-fed one.
Alonge says since organically raised animals are not fed
antibiotics, artificial hormones, or the bovine human growth
hormone, otherwise known as rbGH and they also do not eat
genetically modified foods, and cannot have their genes
modified, they contain nutrients that is good for the body.
He adds that organic chicken also contain no pesticides,
herbicides, fungicides, chemical or synthetic fertilisers, nitrates
or preservatives that could pose any harm to the body, unlike
the factory fed chicken.
“Organic chicken does not contain toxins, chemicals and
drugs that you will find in those commercially raised ones.
“Fat is where toxins are stored in any animal. Hence, growth
hormones and antibiotics fed to chickens end up in their fat.
“Eating those factory fed chicken increases your exposure to
residues of pesticides and synthetic chemicals such as DDT,
PCBs, dioxin, and more, which end up in animal fat. Such
chemicals can contribute to a number of health problems such
as diabetes.”
They say that since organic animals are reared under ethical
and conducive conditions, their meat is less likely to be
infected when compared to infection rates in factory-raised
animals.
“Factory-farmed animals live in feedlots that prevent normal
growth and development. Infections spread faster among
animals that are grown in a caged environment.
The chances of spreading infections in organically raised
animals are minimal because they feed outdoors, grazing on
grass and wandering freely on the farm,” he adds.
Tips for preparing chicken
Be extremely careful when handling raw chicken so that it
does not come in contact with other foods, especially
those that will be served uncooked.
Wash the cutting board, utensils, and even your hands
very well with hot, soapy water after handling the chicken.
If your recipe requires marinating, you should always do so
in the refrigerator, as chicken is very sensitive to heat,
which can increase the chances of spoilage.

Photos: 13 year old girl arrested in Kano wearing explosive vest
The Kano state Police command today Dec. 24th arrested a
13 year old girl identified as Zahra'u Babban Gida who was
found with explosives strapped on her body opposite the
Kantin-Kwari textile market, same place where two female
suicide bombers detonated bombs two weeks ago killing
many.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police Alhaji Tashid Aderile
Shinaba said she was arrested by police officers who found
her moves suspicious. When interrogated, the young girl said
her father was the one who took her to the people who
strapped her with the bombs.
According to her, the unknown men told her she had to carry
out the suicide attack in order to make heaven. She said the
men told her they would kill her if she doesn't follow through
with the bomb attack. The Kano state government however
said that the young girl was not one of the missing Chibok
girls.

DECEMBER 25, 2014 BY ALJAZEERA
Sony, the Japanese-owned company, has released online The
Interview, the film that has angered North Korea and
prompted a cyberattack on the company.
The comedy was available for rent in the US from 18:00 GMT
on several online platforms, a day before a limited release in
hundreds of cinemas on Christmas Day.
Featuring Seth Rogen and James Franco, two American comic
actors, the film is a comedy about a CIA plot to assassinate
Kim Jong-un.
The film was available for rental on Google Inc’s YouTube site,
the Google Play application for Android devices and on a
dedicated website, seetheinterview.com. Microsoft Corp and
Sony itself are also showing the comedy.
The film’s future had been in doubt after Sony said it was
cancelling the release after an embarrassing cyberattack on its
corporate network and threats against potential watchers.
The US has blamed the hack attack on North Korea, and
President Barack Obama has threatened reprisals.
North Korea denied responsibility for the hack attack and
issued its own threats against the US.
Sony also came under fire from Obama and free speech
advocates for pulling the film, and the studio quickly
performed an about-face.
